You’re looking for a summer job? Well, you came to the right place.
Here is a list of 9 things you should do:
-
If you’re under the age of 16 you need a work permit (You can get one from your school counselor).
-
Get an ID. Whatever place you’re planning to work at will most likely need an ID. You can get an ID from an MVD.
– When you go to the MVD, you need to bring your birth certificate, SSN, and a transcript from school. (If you have a way to see your grade online that works).
-
Dress well – wear clean, neat clothes and look professional.
-
Clean up your social media accounts (you never know if the company will look at what you post online; set all accounts to private).
-
Have a person who can vouch for you (you will need a reference from someone who knows you and is not related to you; teachers, co-workers, coaches, neighbors can give you a reference).
-
Try to make a resume (It doesn’t matter that much if this is your first job, but you can still try to include information like what sports you play, classes you are taking, skills you have, and honors or awards).
-
Try to practice writing an application.
-
Also, before you try to apply, make sure you apply from their official website, and not from an app like Indeed because, at least for me, it never works. But when you do it through the official website, it works.

If you’re 16 or older I would recommend working retail someplace like Target. If you’re under 16 I would recommend looking for a job at a fast food restaurant like Chick Fil A, McDonalds, Taco Bell, or similar franchise.
