National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and Senate have partnered to put on Cibola’s annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Food donations are sent to the APS McKinney-Vento food bank to support families in need this holiday season. The food drive started on Tuesday, November 12, and will end on Friday, November 22.
Donations need to be non-perishable food items such as, but not limited to, granola bars, canned vegetables, Ramen, cheese/PB&J crackers, and boxed drinks/juices.
Collection boxes will be in these classrooms: C8, D4, D5, D6, D12, F9, F11, F14, E31, 327, E14, C17, C15, and C13. Swing by and drop off any non-perishable food items you have.
There are also teacher rivalries! Mrs. Linn in C13, representing NAHS, is facing off against Mr. Gatch in C15, representing NHS. Donate to your favorite teacher to help them win. The winner dresses the loser. Mr. Edmiston in C8 is also facing off against Ms. Hernandez in C18, again for the ability to dress the loser for a week.
Additionally, our Powerlifting team has agreed to lift the total weight of the donations collected. Last year, we hit ~2,500 lbs, and the organizers would love to beat that this year. Donate so that we can hit that goal and give Powerlifting a good workout.
APS Activities is sponsoring another food drive, called Drive Out Hunger. The main event will be held Saturday, November 16th from 10am – 4pm. The non-perishable food items donated will also go towards the McKinney-Vento Food Bank.
This story will be continually updated as we learn more about each food drive.
