Homecoming 101
Since the 1910s, schools across the country have celebrated the tradition of homecoming dances. As middle school students all we could think about was our first homecoming dance. Seniors, juniors and sophomores are mostly well experienced in homecomings at this point, but our freshmen (or students who have never attended a homecoming dance) might have trouble navigating the hectic night and week leading up to it. While homecoming is usually a fun-filled night, there are still rules such as dress codes put into place to ensure everyone’s able to have a safe and fun time.
The Rules:
If you are not a junior or senior you may not invite any outside guests. Juniors and seniors are allowed to bring a non-Cibola guest as long as they have approval. To get approved, guests must complete this form, due back by noon on Thursday 09.19.24. Non-Cibola Student Dance permission form (7).pdf
If a student is found to be with or under the influence of any drugs or alcohol there will be punishments consisting of being kicked out of homecoming and future dances (prom) or your next homecoming for sophomores and freshmen.
There will also be a very reasonable dress code in effect consisting of no sweats, shorts, bags or accessories that could be considered a weapon or that are deemed dangerous. Other than that you can wear whatever you see fits with the out of this world theme as long as it is semi-formal (dress shirts with ties, slacks, nice dresses, etc. No jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, or sunglasses)
The most important rule of all is to have fun! Happy Hoco Coogs!
