Teachers are incredibly important in a student’s life and it’s important that we show them our appreciation. Without them, we would not know what we know now! We all know there are some teachers who we don’t particularly get along with, but just know that they work really hard to make class an enjoyable experience. There are many great teachers working at Cibola, but I would like to highlight Mrs. Dusti Griffin!
Mrs. Dusti Griffin is an amazing and dedicated teacher at Cibola High School! She’s been teaching for 27 years and she’s been at Cibola for 10 of those years. She teaches Geometry, Honors Geometry, Statistics, and AP Statistics. Statistics was a class many teachers didn’t want to teach, so Mrs. Griffin gladly stepped up to take that role. “I absolutely love statistics, so that works out for me!” she says. She is also passionate about geometry and teaching in general.
Mrs. Griffin is a thoughtful teacher as well, and she always cares for her students and hopes they succeed. “I want to make sure that students have learned materials and can use it forever,” she explained. Although it can be difficult to have patience for students and teachers with different personalities and learning styles, Mrs. Griffin will find a way! In fact, Mrs. Griffin can write upside down and backwards! It makes it so whenever she needs to talk to a student and write on their paper, it is easier for the student to see what she’s writing and so she can stay in front of the student instead of beside or behind them. It makes the student more comfortable, and it shows that Mrs. Griffin values her students.
Finding out what career to follow can be difficult, so how did Mrs. Griffin decide to pursue education? “I realized I was good at learning things and helping others learn things, and that sparked me to go that direction,” she said. That description perfectly describes what being a teacher is, helping others learn things!
Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Griffin rides motorcycles with her fiancé and gets tattoos of her favorite things. She also bowls and is really good at it! In fact, Mrs. Griffin sponsors Cibola’s incredible Bowling Club. It is a great club that allows students to play and compete in a sport that they love. You also get to meet new friends, and all of this isn’t possible without a great bowling-lover such as Mrs. Griffin.
In conclusion, Mrs. Griffin is a talented geometry/statistics teacher and club sponsor that cares for her students and fellow teachers. So, next time you pass Mrs. Griffin’s classroom (E-13), make sure to stop by and thank her for her dedication to teaching at Cibola High School!
