Juniors and anyone else who took the SAT on April 2nd can now access their scores through their College Board account.
If you do not have a College Board account, go to the College Board website to create one, or you can contact Mrs. Jones directly for a copy of your score report.
If you took the SAT after school on April 11th, your score will be available on May 15th.
But what do the numbers even mean? What is a good score and a bad score? Don’t worry, it isn’t that complicated. Your overall score should be the most prominent number you see. This is the score you got on your reading section combined with the one you got on your math section. The overall score will be a number between 400 and 1,600, with 1,600 being the best-possible score. According to Horizon Education, the average SAT score for New Mexico is 885, while the national average is about 1050, according to the College Board .
You should also see 2 other scores, one for reading and one for writing. These are on a scale of 200-800. The New Mexico average for reading & writing is 453, and 431 in math. The national average, according to PrepScholar, is 529 for reading & writing, and 521 for math.
Overall, if you get a score above 1,000, you should be college ready. If you don’t get a score you’re happy with, don’t worry. The test can be retaken, and there is a lot more to your college application than just your SAT score.
And that’s all there is to it. See you around, Cougars!
