Ms. Linn, an art teacher at Cibola, won the 2024 Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching Award! She heard the news on 4/30 in what seemed like a regular staff meeting. The teachers and staff of Cibola surprised her with an applause for her and her achievement.
Ms. Linn was nominated in November by a previous Golden Apple recipient, whom she didn’t even know, after receiving the award for the best art teacher in New Mexico earlier this year. She said that it was a very long process to complete, including writing several essays and her classes being observed by the foundation. She made it into the finals a few months ago and hadn’t heard any updates since. She said that she was already starting to accept the fact that she might not win.
When Ms. Linn heard the news of her win, she was extremely shocked and said that it, “still hasn’t totally sunk in.”
