Cibola’s Golden Regiment Concert Band will perform at Manzano High School on March 13th in front of judges representing NMAA (New Mexico Activities Association). The Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble timeslots will be staggered by three hours, with 4:00 and 7:00 being the times for each group respectively.
The Cibola wind ensemble will be playing “Strange Humors” by John Mackey, “Fracas” by Randall Standridge, and “Nostalgia” by Rossano Galante. This group plays more advanced pieces and is audition-only. The symphonic band will be playing “American Riversongs” by Pierre La Plante, “Trail of Tears” by James Barnes, and “Black Horse Troop” by John Phillip Sousa. This group encompasses the entire Cibola Band program roster (minus those taking only jazz band as an elective).
If the Cougars’ performance is found to be exemplary by the judges, they will qualify for the state competition in April.
