The Thanksgiving season has come and gone and with it the annual National Honors Society Thanksgiving food drive!
NHS has a long-standing tradition of collecting Thanksgiving meal food items, including: canned vegetables, soups, sweet potatoes and yams, marshmallows, stuffing, turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie ingredients.
The food collected went to the APS McKinney-Vento Program to benefit both Cibola and APS families.
NHS would like to extend thanks to: Mr. Lam, Mr. Siefert, Mr. Norwalk, Mrs. Bois, Mr. Garica, Mrs. Peterson, Mrs. Linn, Mrs. Raugust, Ms. Reeves, Mr. Gatsch, Mrs. Jones, Mr. Palomares, Mrs. Valencia, Ms. Valencia, Ms. Lytle, Ms. Love, and Mr. Edmiston’s classrooms for taking donations.
There were two contests for the food drive.
The first was between NHS and NAHS (National Art Honor Society) with NHS winning with 553 items to NAHS’s 493 items.
The second contest pitted Social Studies against the English Department, with English winning with 399 items to 210 items for Social Studies.
The Cibola power lifting team will be attempting to lift 1800 pounds!
