Cibola High School’s Cheer team announced on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020 that they will be holding tryouts for the upcoming season. Tryouts for the team will be held on the week of Oct. 19, 2020. Before showing up, athletes will have to fill out an information form and a sign-up form.
While Cibola and the rest of APS remain at home, Cibola athletes have been heading off to practice. Cross Country, Volleyball and Golf have all begun to practice in person. The teams are scheduled to compete in the upcoming weeks.
But, a new level of uncertainty was brought about when public health orders forced the cancellation of events that were scheduled for Oct. 10, 2020. The NMAA released a statement via its social media pages on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020.
They Stated: “Due to current public health orders, the NMAA has informed its member schools that all competitions scheduled for Saturday, October 10th have been cancelled. The NMAA is awaiting approval from the Governor’s office before decisions regarding next week’s events will be made.”
Yet, athletes and families remain hopeful. Many commented on the statements with words of encouragement and praise.
